D. Dilworth, the Photographer
Artist Statement

My work deals with three key issues:
Personal relationships, time and Fantasy
These things have always been constant throughout my life. I have photographed these observations with the help of the interpretive light that surrounds my subjects.

For over twenty years, photography has been my main medium.
Growing up in Chicago, my environment constantly included:
Migrating relatives
Lots of Dinner parties
Lots of Religion
Superstitions and Predictions

These things, regardless of where I reside, will always be a part of me and a part of my work.

My photographic series include:
“African-American Artist living in Chicago”, 1982-1989
“Short Stories" (An environmental view). 1986-1993
“My brothers and I”, 1993-1996
“Infrared and me” 1993-1998
“From the street”, 1998-present
